A Charleston father has been indicted by a Kanawha Grand Jury for first-degree murder involving the shooting death of a 15-year-old girl in May.
Roy Pittman, 69, of Keystone Drive was arrested after Brittany Pittman was killed and her brother, Matthew Pittman, 18, was wounded at their home.
He is also indicted on charges of attempted murder and malicious wounding.
The elder Pittman turned the gun on himself when law enforcement officers arrived and spent a week in a local hospital after the incident. At his first court appearance, Pittman appeared with steel rods in his face.
He is being held at South Central Regional Jail without bond. He will be arraigned Sept. 26 by Circuit Judge Paul Zakaib.
Brittany was one of seven adopted children of Pittman's. She had just finished her last day of school as a freshman at Capital High School when she was shot in her bedroom.
Her brother was wounded in the leg, but survived.
