CLARKSBURG, W.Va. -- A man accused of shooting and killing four people in Clarksburg will undergo psychiatric evaluation before his trial.
Harrison County Circuit Judge James Matish granted a mental exam Tuesday for 27-year-old Sidney Muller of Fairmont.
Media outlets say his public defenders requested the exam, and the judge questioned them at length.
Police say Muller killed four people in a drug-related shooting in July.
But two of the victims were innocent bystanders-newspaper delivery man Freddy Donald Swiger and his son, Fred Swiger.
Also killed were 29-year-old Todd Russell Amos of Clarksburg and 26-year-old Christopher Hart.
Muller's lawyers cited military records and medications during the hearing in Clarksburg.
Muller has been held on four counts of first-degree murder at the North Central Regional Jail since the slayings.
