A Charleston woman who struck another vehicle head on while she was driving the wrong way on the interstate pleaded not guilty to a charge of DUI causing death.
Kanawha Circuit Judge Duke Bloom set a November trial for Angela Renee Walker, 46, of 44th Street. If convicted, she could be sentenced to two to 10 years in the penitentiary.
Killed in that March 28 wreck was Edward Pete Bryant, 48, of Big Chimney. Walker was also seriously injured. The accident occurred near the Westmoreland Exit of Interstate 79. Police believe Walker entered the interstate the wrong way at Greenbrier Street about 2:30 a.m.The judge granted a $2,500 public recognizance bond and ordered Walker to await her trial on home confinement. He also ordered that she not drive a vehicle.
