Local first responders will be "Batting for Wishes" this weekend in a softball tournament to benefit the Make-A-Wish foundation.
The second annual Guns N' Hoses "Batting for Wishes" tournament will begin Saturday morning at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston.
The tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, with the games beginning at 9 a.m.
Activities for all ages, including a bounce house for children, will be available, and musical act Robbins N' Jones will perform at 9 p.m. Saturday. Concessions and door prizes also will be available.
The championship game will be held Sunday. The SAND Storm, made up of firefighters from St. Albans, Nitro and Dunbar, won last year's championship.
Admission is $1 for students and $2 for adults.
All proceeds benefit Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia, a nonprofit that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. This chapter of the foundation is the most active in the country and has granted more than 15,000 wishes.
