A fight at the Charleston Moose Lodge resulted in two people being transported to a hospital on Friday morning.
Kanawha County Sheriff's deputies and Charleston Police officers responded to a fight call at the Moose Lodge, 2805 Kanawha Blvd., at 2 a.m. Friday. When the first deputy arrived, he saw vehicles leaving the parking lot and heard shots being fired, said Cpl. Brian Humphreys of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.
"People then fled quickly in vehicles and those on foot ran to vehicles or back toward the Moose Lodge," Humphreys said.
Two victims were transported by personal vehicles to Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital, he said.
Jerome C. Gooch, 28, of Charleston, had been shot in the leg, he said. Shawn Jackson, 28, of Cleveland, Ohio, had injuries sustained in the fight but had not been shot, Humphreys said. Both victims are cooperating with the investigation.
The event at the Moose Lodge was a private party, he said.Anyone with information may send anonymous tips to www.kanawhasheriff.us or may call 304-357-0169. Crime tips and calls are immediately forwarded to detectives.
