MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - A man convicted in Pennsylvania for a crash that killed a sheriff's deputy is scheduled to stand trial on related charges in West Virginia in December.
Jerod Green was indicted in September on charges of drunken driving, leaving the scene of the accident and fleeing.
Green's trial had been scheduled for late October. Media outlets report that a Monongalia County judge rescheduled the trial on Tuesday after Green's attorney said he needs more time to prepare.
The charges stem from a hit-and-run accident in February 2012. West Virginia authorities pursued Green's truck into southwestern Pennsylvania, where it crashed into Monongalia County Sgt. Todd May's cruiser on Interstate 79. May was killed.Green was convicted of third-degree murder in Pennsylvania and is serving 25 to 50 years in prison.
