POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. -- An adult drug court is set to open in Mason County.
State Supreme Court Chief Justice Brent Benjamin is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the court's opening Friday at the Mason County Courthouse in Point Pleasant.
It will become the 22nd adult drug court in operation in the state. There also are 16 juvenile drug courts.
Proponents of drug courts say they are much cheaper than incarcerating offenders and graduates are less likely to offend again.
