A Monroe County man who told authorities he set his Alderson area home ablaze is facing a felony arson charge, State Police said.
Firefighters and State Police were sent Tuesday morning to a structure fire on Laurel Creek Road. A firefighter approached Cpl. J.R. Baker when he arrived at the scene.
The firefighter told Baker that a man at the scene, later identified as Roger Keith Burns, 59, of Alderson, told firefighters he set the fire, according to a complaint filed in Monroe Magistrate Court.
Burns then told Baker that he started the fire in his home. He told Baker during an interview at the Union detachment that he set the curtains on fire.
Burns was charged with first-degree arson. He is being held at Southern Regional Jail on $10,000 bond.
