Mason Sheriff's Sgt. C.A. Varian tried to box the pickup in while McCormick got out of his cruiser again and tried to get the man to get out of the pickup. Denapoli, according to officers, then rammed Varian's cruiser with his truck.
Varian was not in his vehicle at the time but was hit by the pickup's headlight, the complaint said. Denapoli repeatedly revved his engine.
Deweese broke out the driver's side window of the pickup, which had no door handles, and reached inside. A struggle between Deweese and Denapoli ensued causing Deweese to break his hand, the complaint said. Varian tazed Denapoli but had no effect.
Deweese got into the pickup to help force Denapoli out and put the truck in park.
Denapoli swayed and was unsteady on his feet. He admitted that he had been drinking. A breath test showed his blood alcohol content was .206.
Varian wrote that he was in fear for his and McCormick's lives.
Denapoli is being held at Western Regional Jail on a $100,000 bond.
