Women arrested for motel meth lab
Two women were arrested after police found them making meth in a Nitro motel room where a child was present.
Jennifer Funk, 32, of Sod and Jennifer Boggs, 34, of Dunbar, were arrested Thursday at the Economy Inn on First Avenue in Nitro.
Nitro police were investigating a tip concerning a possible meth lab at the motel when they found meth making materials in room 217, according to a complaint on file in Putnam Magistrate Court.
Officers found coffee filters, muriatic acid, empty pseudoephedrine blister packs, bags of red phosphorous and meth pipes among other things, the complaint said.
They also found Funk's 19-month-old child in the room, police said. Boggs told officers they had been staying in the room for the last two weeks.
The meth materials were found on the floor and counter within reach of the child, police said. The room also smelled strongly of the chemical odor associated with meth making.
The child was removed from the room. The women were charged with operating a meth lab and exposing a child to a meth lab. Both are being held at Western Regional Jail.
