Checkpoint planned for Eastern Kanawha County
Authorities will be holding a sobriety checkpoint this weekend in eastern Kanawha County.
Troopers from the State Police detachment in South Charleston and Kanawha sheriff's deputies will be working with the Commission on Drunk Driving Prevention this weekend to combat driving under the influence.
The checkpoint will run from 7 p.m. Friday until 1 a.m. Saturday on W.Va. 61 near Turnpike Ford just north of Marmet. The purpose of the checkpoint is to deter impaired drivers and to educate the public about the dangers of driving while impaired. Officers urge drivers to report impaired drivers they see on the road.
