Beckley man accused of stabbing two with sword
A sword-wielding jilted lover stabbed his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend at a Beckley home, deputies said.
Michael Paul Hale, 27, of Beckley was arrested early Sunday.
Hale allegedly went to the Bailey Avenue home of Tabatha Farley just after 1 a.m. Sunday to start a fight with Hershel Drennen, according to a statement from the Raleigh Sheriff's Department.
According to the Register-Herald in Beckley, Hale was upset Drennen was dating Farley, his ex-girlfriend.
Hale stabbed and cut Drennen, 37, of Fairdale, with the sword several times during the fight, leaving Drennen with serious injuries, according to the statement. Farley, 24, who also was in the home, was stabbed in the foot.
Both were taken to Beckley-Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Deputies arrested Hale during a traffic stop not far from the home.
He is charged with attempted murder and two counts of malicious wounding. He is being held at Southern Regional Jail on $1 million bond.
