ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- Store personnel at the 7-Eleven on Shadyside Road on the outskirts of St. Albans received two fake $20 bills sometime during the day on Monday, authorities said.
Deputy T.A. Fouch responded to the report on Monday when a cashier said he was very busy that day and the suspect must have taken advantage of the situation. Surveillance footage is being surveyed in an attempt to find who passed the bills.
So far this Christmas season, several counterfeit bills have been passed throughout the county, said Capt. Sean Crosier of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.
"We encourage all store personnel to be on the lookout for suspicious currency," Crosier said.
He said fake $10, $20, $50 and $100 have been passed this holiday season.Anyone with information is asked to call the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office at 304-357-0169. Anonymous tips may be submitted online at kanawhasheriff.us or by calling 304-357-4693.
